What are plus of glass use in buildings?

GLASS use, that is frequently seen in today’s architectural structures became prominent with solutions provided for architectural concerns such as heat insulation, sun control, less power consumption of structure mainly transparency and use of natural light.

Glass that is frequently preferred by architects due to being a functional, efficient and aesthetic material provides new dimensions to architecture as well as helps in designing assertive and innovative buildings. Achieving maximum benefit from the daylight is the first architecture concern in terms of effective use of power sources and due to having important positive impacts on the human psychology.

Glass as a building material providing solution for architectural concerns such as heat insulation, solar control, less power consumption of the structure, mainly as natural daylight use with this awareness, is frequently used in today’s architectural structures.

Glass is known as a very old material for centuries and glass production is continuously improved by companies and wide opportunities are provided to architects and engineers for designing power-efficient buildings and interiors. Advanced glass technologies can be listed as electro-chromic and liquid crystal glasses those are heat-light sensitive, directing sunlight. It is possible to previously control amount of light to penetrate into the building, level of heat, cold and noise to be prevented thanks to this technology known as Smart Glass Technology. Therefore, glass use is frequently seen in buildings recently. On the other hand, recent improvements in power efficiency of thin glass production shape architectural structures. Particularly glasses redirecting the daylight are perceived as positive in terms of improving illumination level and balancing building power consumptions and for visual comfort.

“40 percent Power Saving in Glass Office”

While a showroom is being designed, less power consumption is provided by preferring high light permeability with minimum reflection on glasses. Light permeability coefficient is different depending on façade directions particularly in office structures for creating comfortable working environments. Solar control glasses are preferred at the Glass Office that comes into prominence with environment friendly design reflecting beauty of 40 years old trees at the garden into the working environment via glass façades those are designed with this awareness. Initially, attention was paid to high light permeability due to aiming a luminous working environment and illumination consumption was reduced with maximum natural light use. Additionally, heat comfort was another criterion for us. While the solar heat was reduced and taken inside with preferred glasses having low permeability coefficient, we aimed to prevent heat leakage from interior to exterior of the building by reflecting the heat inside again. Therefore, efficiency of the power consumed for heating and cooling is maintained. Also, we have taken safety precautions and used laminated glass at exterior façades and maintained 40% power saving.
